connect many wii remotes to daemon
 unsolved

Hey dsmith,

Thanks for daemon mode! Would it be possible to add multiple Wii Remote support to wminput? I have a small script that fires up wminput -d and mythfrontend at the same time, but I would like be able to connect a second, third, and even fourth Wii Remote for when we play games in mythfrontend (mythgame).

Thanks, spiderworm

I'd like to get there eventually, but that would take more time than I can spare right now. Have you tried running multiple concurrent instances of wminput?

      dsmith,

When I try running multiple concurrent instances, one of them works, connecting one wii remote, and the other fails out with errors, for example:

      spiderworm@computer: (wminput -w -c mythtv) & (wminput -w -c mythtv)

I just tried playing around with this a little. I can connect 2 wiimotes at one time with a bluetooth 1.2 dongle, but not a bluetooth 2.0 dongle. To get more than one wiimote to connect, I have to run wminput, connect the first wiimote, then run wminput and connect the other wiimote. running both wminput instances at one time doesn't work. connecting the second wiimote takes a few tries usually. This doesn't work while running wminput with the -d switch.

In other words, it's picky, finicky, and only works occasionally with certain bluetooth dongles at the moment.

Ah..sounds like Linux won't let multiple devices fight over the cursor. You may take a look at using different axes (and different configs), or see if there's some other way to separate the axes.

This isn't the problem. I can have 3 mice plugged in and (when it works) 2 wiimotes connected and it works. It's something specifically with cwiid and/or bluez.
